FAQ
What the hell does Pocklock mean?
The tagline of this site when I launched was: “Born from imagination.” That pretty much explained a lot of it. I spent most of my childhood alone. My half brother was born when I was 12 years old and my step-sisters were all much older than me and had their own lives. Even though I had every Barbie known to man and about 9 Cabbage Patch Kids (including twins and a premie), things were lonely. Pocklock was one of two of my imaginary friends. Go ahead. Judge. I’ll wait.
Done? Good. I’m sure Dr. Freud would have something to say about imaginary friends, but since he’s dead, he doesn’t get to speak. Pocklock was real to me. He (I’m pretty sure he was a he) kept me company and was really great at playing tea party. He never complained, always shared, and wasn’t a tattle-tale. My other imaginary friend was Sootie (pronounce SOOT-e). Sootie was okay, but I always liked Pocklock better. Sootie was whiney and dumb and I always had to explain things over and over. One summer evening as we sat down to dinner, my Grandfather who was in town visiting for the summer, sat in Sootie’s chair at the dinner table. That was the end of Sootie. When it happened, my mother froze wondering how she’d comfort the crumbling child that just witnessed the death of one of her best friends all while holding a plate of steaming broccoli. She was more than relieved when all I said was, “Pop! You just sat on Sootie! {pregnant pause} At least it wasn’t Pocklock!”
I spent days trying to come up with a name for my site. Something unique, something about me, something that meant something, and something that would bring readers closer to me. Even if you never had an imaginary friend, the fact that I did is a glimpse into my personality and is a part of the friend I am today. Loyal. Well, as long as you don’t tattle-tale.
How did you make such a pretty site?
HA! You people credit me with God like talents. See? I’m really retarded when it comes to this shit. I’ve just been able to put up a REALLY good front and all of you THINK I know what I’m doing. I have no idea. None. I just know where to find people that do.
Pocklock.com could not have been possible without the geeky knowledge, advice, and photoshop skills of my Extremely Hot Husband, JM, and J.Dizzle. You guys rock. I can only dream about being as geeky as you all. Oh yeah, and it’s hosted by Yahoo! Small Business Web Hosting GoDaddy and powered by Word Press, Diet Coke, and Guacamole.
I plan to learn CSS to lesson the co-depency of site management that I seem to have going on right now. I would love to know how to futz with the CSS and change the layout and look of my site.
If these aren’t your kids in all these pictures, who’s are they?
In 2006, there were 5 babies born to close friends and family members between September and January. Besides going broke on baby showers, I gained some amazing little photography subjects.
