Thursday Can Suck It

Filed under: EHH, Grinchy McGrouch, Pregnant — Posted by Pocklock at 8:58 pm on Thursday, February 21, 2008

If one more person tells me I should be feeling better by now, less nauseous, less tired, I will scream. That is a promise.

I confess to having seen the clock strike 10pm twice this week. That was even without an afternoon nap, but today I’ll be lucky to see 9pm. And tomorrow I’ll be lucky if I brush my hair. Saturday maybe I’ll be rested enough to shower. No promises though.

I also confess to leaving work early today to avoid another public outburst similar to this one, but also to get home to my husband who left his office at noon. The one who NEVER gets sick is now in a ball on the couch. I don’t think it’s that stomach virus the Entire World has, but I think he’s fighting something. Headache, body aches, severe exhaustion. Hey! Welcome to my world! I’ve been here 14 weeks! Pull up a chair. Grab a book. Wait, you won’t be able to stay awake long enough to read it. Try a magazine. Better yet, find the back of a cereal box. Something with pictures.

Last weekend was a near disaster. Saturday I felt awful and almost ended up in tears because my head hurt so bad I could hardly move. Sunday I felt a little better, but was still an emotional wreck (No, really?). Monday was decent in the energy level department, but as I near the end of my commuting week, I seriously feel myself shrinking. On Wednesday night as I fall asleep I seriously wonder how I’ll make it through Thursday. When I make it to Thursday, it’s with every last bit of energy that I can eat dinner, lift my laptop, compose some sort of rambling nonsense blog entry, and stay up to see the end of LOST. For the last three weeks I’ve had to re-watch the last fifteen minutes on DVR in the morning. I’m in such a daze. Worthless. Friday is a complete waste and I thank GOD for the flexibility of my job that allows me full VPN access and the ability to work from the corner of the couch. In my pajamas. And by 5:01pm, I’m offline and snoozing. And it starts all over…

I’m confident that it will end soon. And even if it doesn’t, I know it’s still only temporary and it’s all for fabulous reasons.

I can still secretly wish for a magic pill that will let me stay awake to see the end of LOST though, can’t I?

I remember those days. I went back and read all of my first trimester/early second trimester posts the other day and remembered how badly IT SUCKED. It does get better.

I’m almost 17 weeks and still lucky to make it through Lost most of the time (and I’m in Central time so it is on an hour earlier – how pathetic is that?).
