The Year of the Pig is Every Other
Well at least in this family it is! (Image should not be viewed by vegetarians)

SIL and BIL throw a huge pig-roast every other summer in their awesomely gigantic back yard in the northwest hills of Connecticut. Each party boasts some huge addition to the festivities that make it more memorable and harder for the next one to top. This year it was the addition of the humidity band. A real live band. That played. For. Hours. And we danced. And with the dancing there was much sweating. And drinking, for mere hydration reasons of course. And all was perfectly fun.

The kids stayed occupied by the bouncy house and dunk tank while the adults ate, drank, and tried to stay still because moving just made you more hot. Of course SIL went all out with the fantastic food (other than the oink of course), BIL had gotten enough kegs to drown three fraternities, and FIL manned the pig. Which roasted. At 350 degrees. FIL’s core temperature was almost as high as the pig. FIL gets an award for the day.

It amazes me that kids aren’t phased by heat. They’re just happy…

And go-lucky…

And all smiles…

Until they pass out…

And the adults play…

It was a fantastic time. SIL and BIL threw an amazing party. I happen to have a great time and also managed to take this picture which is now heading for a frame because, well, can you say… awwww!

I’m off to start my vacation. It’s a gorgeous day. Most of that humidity has left and now that I’m all caught up on blog-related stuff, I’m headed for the pool. Tomorrow there just might be a morning tee-time with Mom and an afternoon/evening with L’il Foot as L’il Foot’s Daddy tries to live out his dream of playing in the majors with his double-header softball playoffs. Wednesday is still too far away to have a plan. I’m on vacation! Wee–hooo!
