My Subconscious Is Busy
I’ve dreamt in a very literal context my whole life. My subconscious seems to deal with just about everything I can’t seem to deal with during the day. I fight battles in my dreams. I address people I wouldn’t usually address. I say things I would say. I see people exactly how I want to see them. This provides for some fairly entertaining dream subject matter.
For example, there was this one time in college that I dream-beat the shit out of one of my suitemates. I don’t remember why. I never really liked the girl, but I aggressively beat her up like UFC style. It wasn’t pretty. And I wouldn’t stop. I guess I was really mad. It was a clean dream though. No blood or anything. Because. Ew.
My most favorite literal dream happened when I first met EHH. We were dating a few months before I ever came across a photo of his ex-wife. I had asked what she looked like and he used the euphemism, Butterface. That very night I dreamt about her. Except she didn’t have a face. Stemming from her neck, was a large stick of butter. Land ‘o’ Lakes. Literally, a butterface. We still joke about that.
Anxiety drives my dreams as well. When we went to Maine in May, it took me three full nights to stop dreaming about anything work related. No one should have that problem. Waking up on vacation on the beautiful rocky coast, 8 steps from the ocean thinking about florescent lighting and process documentation really sucks.
I never really got into dream analysis because there’s really not too much to analyze when it comes to my dreams. It’s typically right in line with what’s going on in my life. I’ve never been a complicated person.
So what do you dream about? What’s the strangest, most literal dream you’ve ever had? Do you have a favorite dream? Tell me about it…
